Printing high-quality wine labels
As early as 6000 years ago, there was a way of labeling vessels that contained wine - roll seals. Today, we can use labels to mark our wine bottles. The labels provide important information about the wine and contribute significantly to the purchase decision. At packaging warehouse, you can create an individual look for your wine bottles with our bottle labels. Thanks to our label calculator, you can create your bottle labels in just a few steps and then have them printed by us. In addition to a wide selection of materials, you also have the option of having your wine labels finished.
What are wine labels?
Wine labels are the business cards of a wine, so to speak. The labels contain important information about the contents of the bottle. Among other things, the name of the wine, the winery or the country of origin are listed. But why are wine labels needed at all? For the simple reason that they serve as a basis of information for consumers when buying wines. They are a guide for us, because not everyone is a sommelier straight away. This makes it easier to make a decision when buying wine. Wine labels also offer added value for collectors or lovers of special vintages and limited editions. The labels for wine are not only informative, but also create a visual unity with the bottle, giving it a certain elegance. The tradition of a winery can also be reflected in the label. All in all, wine labels are not only practical, but also aesthetically pleasing and informative. They make the wine an experience for all the senses.
What information should (legally) be on the labels?
If you want to sell your own wine, there are a few things to consider. The information that must be provided on wine labels is strictly regulated in Germany and the European Union. Consumers must be provided with all the information they need to make a purchase decision. The labels for wine bottles may only contain expressly permitted information. Labeling is divided into mandatory information, which is prescribed by law, and voluntary or optional information. It is generally mandatory to label your wine bottle. This is why there are usually two labels on wine bottles - one on the front and one on the back. The back of the label contains all the mandatory information, which is why it is also known as the "main label". If there is no back label on the bottle, the information is given on the side or at the bottom of the wine label.

Print wine labels at packaging warehouse
At packaging warehouse, we offer you the option of customizing your wine labels. Many wines even have three labels on the bottle - the display label on the front, a back label and a neck loop. Of course, you can also use just one label for your information. With our label calculator, you have the option of making various adjustments. For example, you can determine the dimensions of your label yourself, but please note our maximum/minimum values:
Width: 10 to 314 mm
Height: 10 to 700 mm
Corner radius: 0 to 10 mm (for a rectangular shape)
You can then choose between different label materials. We offer first-class wine papers, such as our textured paper in white or cream. If you want to make your wine stand out, we can finish your labels with a protective varnish or protective laminate. Both variants are available in a matt or glossy finish. This gives you the opportunity to present your bottles in a high-quality way and protect them from external environmental influences such as dirt, abrasion, sunlight, etc.
In addition to the quantity and variety information, you can also specify the shape of your label. We offer labels in two standard shapes. You can choose between a rectangular or oval/round shape. Rectangular labels or square labels are less eye-catching, but a lot of information fits on this label shape. This is particularly important for wine bottles, as the mandatory information must be listed correctly and in an easily legible font. Eye-catching and bright colors as well as unusual lettering can also attract attention here. Round/oval labels are a little more eye-catching, but usually fit less information on the label. Especially with round/bellied wine bottles, the label matches the overall shape. No matter which shape you decide on, we as a label printing company will be happy to help you choose the right label shape.
Wine labels in special shapes
Are the labels in standard shapes too boring for you and would you like an unusual shape for your wine bottle? Then our special shape labels are the ideal solution. Every label with a special shape is unique and is therefore created individually. We can produce your label according to your requirements with the help of a specially made die-cut contour. We recommend the programs "Adobe Illustrator" or "Adobe InDesign" for editing your label. The first step is to determine the width and height of your label and enter this in our configurator. Next, use one of the suggested graphics programs and create your special shape. Finally, the outline of your special shape must be colored with a solid color called "punch". If you need further help creating your print data, you can contact our pre-press specialists. With a label in a special shape, your wine bottle will stand out from the crowd and impress your customers with a meaningful design.

We recommend our popular textured paper in white and cream for your wine labels. Both paper and foil have their advantages. However, bear in mind that wine bottles are usually not reusable bottles and usually have to be disposed of in the bottle bank after use. Some winegrowers also allow you to return the empties, which can save resources. After the glass bottles have been disposed of or handed in, they must be cleaned; this also includes removing the label. Do you want a label that is easy to remove without leaving any residue? Then it's best to opt for paper labels with a removable adhesive. If, on the other hand, you need a very stable material that will last for a longer period of time, you can opt for plastic labels made of polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE). Plastic labels are durable, weather-resistant, waterproof and dirt-repellent - properties that are advantageous when storing and transporting wine bottles.
Textured paper white/cream
If you want a special design for your wine labels, you should use textured paper. Whether white or cream-colored - textured paper is guaranteed to win you over. But why is the paper so special?
Textured papers are versatile types of paper that are used especially for high-quality wine or liquor labels. The paper consists of a highly textured surface that is not only convincing to the touch. It gives the label a high-quality appearance. Textured paper also has the advantage of being extremely dimensionally stable and easy to process. The textured paper can also be applied both manually and automatically without creases. It is not only the appearance of the paper that speaks in its favor, but also its durability, which means it can withstand light and moisture well. This is particularly important for wine labels that are stored in damp cellar shelves. Above all, our wine labels are UV-resistant and light-resistant, as we print the labels using high-tech dry toner technology. All in all, you can be sure that your label will last longer and impress with its attractive design.
Metallized paper
If you are looking for a special label for your wine, metallized paper is a good choice. The paper enhances your label in a special way and gives your wine a touch of elegance and luxury. To produce metallized paper, paper is finished with a thin layer of aluminium in a vacuum process. You can choose between a shiny gold or a shiny silver. Both colors give your wine a beautiful design. The labels also have excellent barrier properties thanks to the metal layer on the surface. This means that these labels are resistant to water, grease, oils, chemicals and steam. They also reflect light, heat and UV radiation and are highly resistant to abrasion. Depending on the quantity, you have the option of having your labels produced by us using flexographic or digital printing.
