Adviser about Folding boxes

Grass cardboard

Grass cardboard is a unique, multi-layer folding boxboard consisting of a high proportion of secondary fibre and a rapidly renewable raw material. Grass cardboard is available in various designs depending on the manufacturer and intended use, and stands out thanks to its unique look and feel. The grass content is crucial, as it has a direct influence on the bending stiffness and processing. The lower the grass content in the cardboard, the higher the stability/bending stiffness of the cardboard. Grass cardboard is particularly suitable for unprinted folding boxes or folding boxes with simple motifs and little ink application.

Colour: White/beige (grass look/grass texture)
Printing Conditional (depending on print image & ink application)
Further processing (punching/creasing/perforating) Conditional (prone to edge breakage)
Finishing (varnish/hot foil) Conditional (depending on surface and absorbency)
Food contact: No
Extraction Grass / Secondary fibre / Waste paper
Sustainability Fully recyclable
Grammage Approximately 250 to 550 g/m²
Bending stiffness Low (depending on grass content)
The appearance and structure of grass cardboard can influence the colour accuracy of the desired print motif. We therefore recommend applying opaque white to the entire print motif. Our calculators offer the option ‘4C Euroscale + white’ for this purpose. This ensures high print quality and colour accuracy on grass cardboard.
